With locations such as sunset bay and dreamy bay visible, this photograph was always going to work, surely.
The name of a location means a lot more when you have an emotional connection to the location.
Having that connection with a location, turns a space with a nice name into a place that you remember and admire.
This is one of those places that is exactly that for me.
This image was captured at the start of August whilst I was living on Bruny Island.
The image is sentimental and reminds of living on the island. I have fond memories of being able to kick off the work boots, and go for a stroll on this beach to watch the sunset or try my luck with a fishing rod.
With this photo, I want to present it not only as a part of my story, but also because I find it an interesting photograph from a technical point of view as the composition is quite complex and dynamic.
The grasses add details in foreground, with the sweeping bay of soft white sand and calm waters leading the eye into the image and along a small penisula towards Satellite Island and the setting sun. With the golden light of the sunset and the distant mountains of Adamsons Peak, Moonlight Ridge and Mount La Perouse in the Southwest National Park visible in the background.
