The natural stone archway at Mars Bluff near Cape Queen Elizabeth on Bruny Island.
Bruny Island holds many natural features, the coastline is exposed to the wild Tasman Sea and Southern Ocean. Mars Bluff stands firmly planted during this calm and beautiful sunrise overlooking Adventure Bay, the South Bruny National Park and as displayed in the distance, Fluted Cape. On this particular morning in mid-September, a few hours before this photo was taken, I was sitting on the beach in the dark watching the aurora light up the sky behind the archway. I was furtunate enough to capture the aurora and milkyway behind the rock archway - however I like this image more. The light from the rising sun adds highlights to the top of the arch and creates an even glow behind the rock formation which adds strong contrast to this photograph.
